Bio:
In 1999 my husband and I decided we wanted a fur baby. We had seen a Bichon on tv and decided that was what we wanted. We checked all the pounds but didn't find what we were looking for. Finally saw an add in the Dallas TX paper. We went to look at them and when we walked in, 8 little balls of fur came running. One really made herself known. She pushed through all her siblings and started cuddling up and giving kisses. We fell in love. On the way home we stopped at PetSmart and bought her tons of what we thought she needed.Lexi was a pampered little princess. She spent weekends at the lake on our yacht and loved riding the jet ski's. She had her own life jacket with our last name on it since our last name is Stearns. We moved to Oklahoma when Lexi was 3. She loved being out in the country with lots of things to explore. She was our world. Even my kids referred to her as their little sister. Lexi had to have surgery for bladder stones twice. a few yrs after that she started having trouble again. The vet said she has small stones and put her on a acidifier. She kept having trouble and the vet would feel her tummy and her more meds saying it was stones. The third time of hearing this I took her to another dr. He felt her tummy and instantly did a sonogram. He couldn't even see her bladder. The next day she went into surgery. We called to see when we could pick her up and was told we could come get her anytime. We got there and asked if he got stones and were there a lot. He told us there were no stones. Our baby girl had bladder cancer and it was very advanced. He gave her at best 2 months. Well our little girl fought the cancer for 6 months until her little body couldn't fight anymore. We did what we never wanted to do and that was let her go to the Bridge. She took our hearts with her. We will always love her more than life. She has been gone for a yr now but it seems like just yesterday. The previous vet was negligent. If she would have done the sonogram things might have been different. Lexi passed away 2 1/2 months shy of her 11th birthday. We now have a Parti Schnauzer that we love dearly. Not to ever replace Lexi but just another baby we can love and let him know he is loved.
