Bio:
This is Ulysses, he was part of the feral colony I have taken care of for the past ten years. About 2 1/2 years ago I saw him on my porch and he had a giant wound and skin hanging from his neck. It took my husband and I about a week to get him but we finally trapped him and I took him to my vet where even though feral he happily worked with him. Ulysss ended up having all his teeth pulled except 4 and stitched and he wa a mess. My vet said he would not survive out with the ferals anymore because of his no teeth and he was very week and older, so I took him in and he lived in a giant dog crate for 2 months with a bed and food litter box, toys. I didn't think he would let me but for one month he allowed me to give him his medicine, sometimes he would hiss but he never scratched or bit me. Once he was healed and better I put him in our indoor sanctuary with our other rescues to live his life out happy and peacefully. About 2 months ago I noticed he started losing weight drinking a lot of water but then he seemed to gain weight again and looked good so I left him alone. I watched him closely but then he just took a sudden turn for the worse he became skinny over night sunken in his sides and very very weak, I got him in a carrier took him to the vet and poor Ulysses had such massive kidney failure that quick that his blood counts were off the charts and the vets machine couldn't even give the numbers. I knew he was suffering so I was with him when he left to Rainbow Bridge. It is such a heartwarming experience to rescue a cat who would other wise be discarded simply becaused he was "feral" he lived a happy life here for 2 years he was happy, warm, loved, and fed, he was part of a family for the first time in his life and it makes me happy to know that I was a part of him knowing what it felt like to be truely loved before he passed........
